What's the maximum image size (GIF, JPG, PNG) for Help Center articles?

When you add an image to the body of a Help Center article, the maximum size is 5 MB per image (5,242,880 bytes). This is the same upload limit that applies to attachments in conversations.

Accepted formats

You can insert standard web image formats directly into an article, including:

- JPG / JPEG

- PNG

- GIF (including animated GIFs)

- WebP

Each individual image must be 5 MB or smaller. If a file exceeds the limit, it won't upload and you'll need to compress or resize it first.

Tips for staying under 5 MB

- Animated GIFs add up fast. A few seconds of animation can easily exceed 5 MB. Trim the length, reduce the frame rate, or lower the dimensions to shrink the file.

- Resize before uploading. Most screenshots don't need to be wider than ~1,600 px to look crisp in an article.

- Compress. Tools like TinyPNG or Squoosh can cut file size dramatically with little visible quality loss.

- Consider a short video or a GIF-to-MP4 conversion for long animations, which are far lighter than an equivalent GIF.

Good to know: other Help Center image limits

The 5 MB limit above is for images placed inside an article. The Help Center's appearance settings have their own separate limits:

- Hero background image: 5 MB

- Header logo & mobile logo: 2 MB

- Social/meta preview image: 2 MB

- Favicon: 500 KB

If you're uploading a source Document to train Aura AI (not an article image), that's a different feature with a much larger 100 MB limit.
