One active computer per account

Your Customerly account can be used on one computer at a time. You can stay logged in on several computers, but only the most recently active one can work. This article explains how it works and what to do if you see the “account in use” screen.

How it works

The last device to log in gets the account. You can stay logged in on more than one computer, for example at the office and at home, but you can work on only one at a time.

Other computers are paused, not logged out. If you go back to a computer that isn’t the active one and try to do something, you’ll see a screen saying the account is in use on another computer. The screen shows:

  • Which browser and operating system that computer uses

  • Its approximate location

  • When it was last active

“Resume here” moves the account to the computer you’re on. The other computer is paused straight away and shows the same screen if someone tries to use it.

Resume limit. To stop two people from passing an account back and forth, “Resume here” works up to 3 times every 10 minutes per account. Past that, the screen tells you how long to wait.

Automatic release after 15 minutes of inactivity. Once the account is released, any other computer can use it without pressing anything. A paused screen refreshes on its own when the account becomes available.

Logging out releases the account straight away.

Good to know

  • Multiple tabs: Several tabs in the same browser on the same computer work normally.

  • Different browsers: A second browser on the same computer (for example Chrome and Safari), or a private/incognito window, counts as a different computer.

  • Clearing cookies: After you clear your browser cookies, the browser counts as a new computer and you need to log in again.

  • Copying the login session: Copying your login session to another computer doesn’t work. That computer is blocked.

  • Mobile app: The mobile app isn’t affected for now. You can use the app on your phone while working on a computer.

Frequently asked questions

I see “account in use on another computer.” What should I do?
If it’s your other computer, click Resume here to continue on this one. If you don’t recognize the browser, system or location shown, log out of the account and change your password.

Can I use Customerly at the office and at home on the same day?
Yes. Click Resume here when you switch, or log out on the first computer. Otherwise the account is released automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Why can’t I click “Resume here” anymore?
You’ve reached the limit of 3 resumes every 10 minutes. The screen shows how long to wait.
